Jewellery

Choose jewellery around the occasion, comfort and care you can give it. Compare dimensions, fastening style and the stated metal before using a photograph to judge size. Fashion jewellery, plated pieces and precious-metal jewellery need different checks.

Jewellery: what to check first

Read the exact composition and plating description. Do not infer metal purity or gemstone authenticity from colour or price. For precious-metal purchases, ask the seller for applicable hallmark information, a detailed invoice and current return, exchange and buyback conditions.

Shop by piece

Earrings

Compare fastening type, dimensions, weight and the stated metal.

Necklaces

Check chain length, clasp and whether a pendant is included.

Rings

Use the seller’s sizing method and check resizing and return conditions.

Bracelets & Bangles

Measure the required fit and allow for clasp or opening style.

Everyday Jewellery

Compare comfort, material information and care demands for regular wear.

Ethnic Jewellery

Check the size and contents of each piece rather than judging from a model photo.

Occasion Sets

Verify which pieces are included and whether matching accessories are sold separately.

Jewellery Storage

Choose separate compartments and suitable lining for the pieces you own.

Start with fit and comfort

Use measurements to understand the size of a ring, necklace or bangle. Product photographs can make a small piece appear much larger. Check how an earring closes, how a chain adjusts and whether a clasp is manageable for the wearer. Consider the occasion and how long the piece will be worn, alongside its appearance.

Separate description from documentation

Read the stated metal, plating and stone description as separate details. A colour name is not a metal specification. Ask the seller to explain unclear terms and provide relevant documentation for precious-metal purchases. Compare the complete invoice and seller policies before paying; a shopping-page image cannot authenticate purity, provenance or a gemstone.

Check care and after-sales terms

Look for clear cleaning and storage instructions, especially when different materials are combined. Check whether resizing, repairs or replacement parts are offered and whether any service has an additional charge. Gift purchases also need an appropriate exchange window. Keep the original invoice and product description so the item and any future service request can be identified.

Build a useful comparison

Keep a short written comparison of the options you are considering. Record the exact item or model, the dimensions that matter, the stated material and what is included. Put an unanswered question in its own column rather than filling it with an assumption. If two listings describe different sizes or bundles, treat them as different options instead of calling one a cheaper equivalent.

Read the seller’s current delivery and return information for your location. Check the final payable total and any conditions attached to an offer. An item can suit your needs without being the cheapest, but the reason for paying more should be clear to you. Avoid adding unrelated items just to qualify for a discount threshold.
